Kansas Jayhawks

No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks are no stranger to the winners’ circle as they have claimed four national titles, with their latest as recently as 2022. They’ve won 19 of the last 22 Big 12 titles, but they lost a tremendous amount of production to the NBA. Michigan transfer Hunter Dickenson is one of many new additions to this squad, and 10-1 odds to win it all is a decent price for this wager.

This Week: Kansas opens its season with a pair of games against North Carolina Central and Manhattan.

Duke Blue Devils

The No. 2 Duke Blue Devils have been perennial favorites for a number of years but suffered a second-round loss to Tennessee in the Big Dance. They return four starters and a few key reserves, and this young team is loaded. 13-1 for the Blue Devils to win their sixth national title come April isn’t a bad price at all, and if they lose to Arizona, their odds will decrease, and we’ll get some real value.

This Week: Duke hosts Dartmouth and a tough Friday night matchup with No. 12 Arizona.

Purdue Boilermakers

The No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers got a big lift when National Player of the Year Zach Edey opted to forego the NBA Draft and return to Purdue. The Boilermakers return nearly everyone from a team that won the Big Ten with a 29-6 mark. Purdue was upset in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, and they will be hungry to return to the Big Dance and hopefully avoid the same result.

This Week: Purdue has home matchups with Samford and Morehead State.

Kentucky Wildcats

The No. 16 Kentucky Wildcats have only three returning players from last season’s third-place SEC result. The Wildcats will rely on seven freshmen along with some transfer portal moves in the hopes they can avoid another third-place SEC finish and second-round NCAA Tournament loss to Kansas State. Kentucky lacks front-court depth and is likely priced too high for this market.

This Week: Kentucky hosts New Mexico State and Texas A&M Commerce.

Michigan State Spartans

The No. 4 ranked Michigan State Spartans return 77% of their minutes from their 21-13 season. Tyson Walker leads the team as the nation’s top point guard from a year ago. MSU is a deep, experienced group that can go a long way if they improve a defense that ranked 42nd in defensive efficiency in 2023. The Spartans reached the Sweet Sixteen last season and could win it all in 2024.

This Week: The Spartans host James Madison and Southern Indiana.
