Louisville Leaps to No. 14 in the Week Seven AP College Football Rankings

The Louisville Cardinals jumped 11 spots on the AP Top 25 college football rankings after their 33-20 home defeat of then-ranked No. 11 Notre Dame.

This is the highest ranking for the Cardinals since 2017, and its 6-0 start is the best in over a decade. Louisville has a terrific chance to crack the Top 10 with a victory next Saturday at Pittsburgh.

The undefeated Cardinals have reeled off three successive conference victories over Notre Dame, NC State, and Boston College, and Head Coach Jeff Brohm had this to say about his Cardinals after defeating the Fighting Irish Saturday night,

“I just think our players came out in the second half and understood what it meant, not only (for) us, but the entire town, city, and university to win, and they grinded it out,” Brohm said.

Can Louisville win the ACC at (+500) DraftKings?

Louisville is tied with North Carolina at +500 to win the ACC and well below DraftKings Sportsbook Kentucky favorite Florida State (-160).

The Cardinals are tied with Florida State with 3-0 conference marks, with North Carolina knocking on the door at 2-0.

Louisville does have a favorable schedule remaining and could actually win the ACC. They travel to Pittsburgh this Saturday and return to open a three-game homestand with No. 17 Duke, followed by Virginia Tech and Virginia.

If Louisville can make it through those four, they visit No. 25 Miami, and if they manage to win at Miami, they could be crowned 2023 ACC champions. That’s barring someone knocking off Florida State, but with the Seminoles’ toughest games remaining at home, I don’t foresee this happening. +500 is probably the best number you’ll ever get, but I wouldn’t bet more than 0.25 units on this happening.

Louisville vs. Pittsburgh Prediction

This week, we will make an early wager on the Louisville at Pittsburgh game and play Louisville -8.0 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook.

Most pundits would be afraid of a letdown after two consecutive wins over nationally ranked opponents. I don’t think this will be the case against Pitt. The Panthers are 1-4 and 0-2 in the ACC, are 0-4-1 ATS, and are a bad football team.

Louisville is 21st in scoring, 22nd in points allowed with a 3-2-1 ATS record, and is 1-0 as the away side and 0-0-1 ATS on the road this season.

Pinnacle Sportsbook has the Cardinals as -9.0 point favorites for Saturday’s game, and while we can’t wager from the USA at Pinnacle, we use their lines as a gauge to find weaker ones in the states.

Caesars gives us the best price by one point. Eventually, the number on Louisville will rise at Caesars to -9.0 or even -9.5, and we want to grab that -8.0 while it’s still there because the Cardinals should win closer by nine or even 10 points, and we’ll have the better number. Play Louisville -8.0 (-110) at Caesars Sportsbook KY.
