DraftKings College Basketball National Championship Odds

Here are some things to remember about wagering on college basketball futures.

Always line shop for the best number and betting odds available. We’re using DraftKings for this article, but there are several online sportsbooks in Kentucky, and not all have the same number or odds as the others. Looking for the best price possible before placing a bet is a smart idea and one you should deploy as part of your overall betting strategy.

The public changes their minds often, and the odds on the college basketball futures board often have subtle changes that can be advantageous and profitable for you. That means you don’t have to make a bet today, as the chances are quite good that you can get better odds on your favorite Kentucky team (or any other program) somewhere down the road.

Kentucky Wildcats Championship Odds Improve

Despite suffering an away loss to South Carolina last week, the Kentucky Wildcats (+1200) saw some public backing this past week and have moved one step closer to the top of the DraftKings odds board.

This is a big week for the Wildcats; they have a two-game homestand beginning Wednesday night with the Florida Gators, followed by a Saturday encounter with No. 5 ranked Tennessee Volunteers. Tennessee is 5-1 in SEC play with a winning road record, and likely why the Wildcats are (+650 at DraftKings) to with the SEC.

Bracket Matrix projects the Wildcats as a possible No. 4 seed, but they could fall even further with a home loss to Tennessee on Saturday,

The Rest of the DraftKings Top 5

The Purdue Boilermakers have won 12 of their last 13 and look increasingly like a team that can win a national championship. National Player of the Year frontrunner Zach Edey ranks second nationally in scoring and is surrounded by snipers draining a sixth-best 40% from downtown.

The road may not be friendly to Purdue or the Houston Cougars this week; Purdue travels to Wisconsin Saturday in a game they should win. However, the Cougars begin a difficult two-game road trip beginning Monday at Texas and Saturday against No. 7 Kansas.

Away losses likely won’t hurt Houston that much with the selection committee. Still, losing one or both of those away matchups could result in the public losing confidence, and Houston backers could get better odds if they wait until weeks’ end to place a wager.

The UConn Huskies are making moves and project to be the No. 1 seed in the east. They’ve won eight straight, including some big away victories over Butler, Xavier, and Villanova. Huskies guard Cam Spencer has the fourth-best three-point shooting percentage nationally for the 28th-best scoring team.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have the second-longest winning streak nationally (10 games) and overtook Arizona on our DraftKings leaderboard. They are a possible No. 1 seed with a perfect 9-0 mark in the ACC.

The Tar Heels’ suffocating defense has led them to a 4-3 Quad 1 record, but they have some difficult matchups over the next two weeks with Duke, Clemson, and Miami that could send their odds tumbling.
